Prepositional Pronouns in Spanish
For today’s lesson I have prepared a fundamental grammar topic. It’s not the kind of grammar lesson you can do without if you are planning to ever be able to communicate in Spanish.
In this class we will learn the Prepositional Pronouns in Spanish:
- para mí – for me
- para ti – for you (informal)
- para usted – for you (formal)
- para él – for him
- para ella – for her
- para nosotros – for us
- para vosotros – for you (plural, as used in Spain)
- para ustedes – for you (plural, as used in Latin-america)
- para ellos – for them
Examples with Spanish sentences:
- Este presente es para mí – This present is for me.
- Este regalo es para ti – This present is for you.
- Esta camiseta es para él/ella – This t-shirt is for him/her.
- Estos boletos son para nosotros – These tickets are for us.
- Estas gafas son para vosotros – These glasses are for you (plural).
- Estos anteojos son para ellos – These glasses are for them.
As you may have realized, Prepositional Pronouns in Spanish are similar but not identical to Possessive Adjectives and Possessive Pronouns. The three have in common that attribution of possession. But there are specific situation for which to use each one of them.
