Spanish articles: Definite and Indefinite articles
Like in English, Spanish articles are divided into DEFINITE ARTICLES (Artículos determinados) and INDEFINITE ARTICLES (Artículos indeterminados). Spanish articles may be just slightly more complex because they are separate in gender (male and female articles) and number (plural and singular).
Spanish definite articles:
- El – the (masculine singular)
- La – the (feminine singular)
- Los – the (masculine plural)
- Las – the (feminine plural)
Spanish indefinite articles:
- Un – a (masculine singular)
- Una – a (feminine singular)
- Unos – “a” (masculine plural)
- Unas – “a” (feminine plural)
- Algún – some (masculine singular)
- Alguna – some (feminine singular)
- Algunos – some (masculine plural)
- Algunas – some (feminine plural)
Examples:
- el niño – the boy
- los niños – the boys
- la niña – the girl
- las niñas – the girls
- un edificio – a building
- unos edificios – buildings
- una casa – a house
- unas casas – houses
- algún hombre – some man
- algunos hombres – some men
- alguna mujer – some woman
- algunas mujeres – some women
Also, I recommend all my students that follow my online courses to do the exams that I upload to my website. The topic of this lesson (Spanish articles) is included in Spanish Quiz Nbr. 3 (lessons 13 – 19).
You can find a full list of all the video lessons by clicking on the List of Lessons tab on the Main Menu.
To enlarge the video-screen to full-size, click on the right icon on the lower right corner of the video.
Thank you Rodrigo.
